DPI regularly conducts researches and develops analytical reports on some topics including:

  • Content analysis of print mass-media of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia and United States


Municipality magazine

Popular scientific bilingual (Kyrgyz and Russian) monthly magazine Municipality is founded and published by DPI at its own expense with financial support of donor organizations. Distributed free of charge throughout the country to LSGs, public institutions, universities, libraries, mass media and community organizations. Number of printed copies varies from 1000 to 3000 copies.

Concept of the magazine is based on understanding of a municipality as unity of territories, population residing on this territory and LSG bodies. This concept allows to affect wide variety of topics related to regional development, life of communities and a person; and municipal management. All editions of the magazine are available at the DPI website of www.dpi.kg, www.municipalitet.kg

This research was conducted by the Development Policy Institute and commissioned by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

The contents of this publication reflect the opinions of individual authors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

Goal of this research is to provide feasible recommendations for the accountability system actors to strengthen the system of accountability.

In order to achieve the goal, the study addresses the following objectives:

describe the power’s system of accountability to the people of the Kyrgyz Republic, including the actors and processes;
identify significant gaps and weaknesses in the existing accountability processes and propose measures to bridge them;
formulate recommendations for the accountability system actors to improve the accountability system in the Kyrgyz Republic.
