The project builds on the success of the previous initiative named USAID's Successful Aimak Project implemented between 2016 and 2021.
On December 8-9 and 14-15, 2021, the USAID and the DPI held a series of events in Naryn, Issyk-Kul, Osh and Jalal-Abad oblasts marking the launch of the new Project and highlighting the goals and objectives of the project.
The project will assist municipalities in Jalal-Abad, Issyk-Kul, Naryn and Osh oblasts of Kyrgyzstan.
The new project is expected to help municipalities improve management practices to deliver key municipal services, such as water supply, waste removal, operation of public spaces and organization of leisure activities, more effectively.
The project will work with the municipalities to strengthen their accountability by encouraging local communities to provide feedback about the quality of the municipal services and engaging citizens in monitoring local budgets.
As part of the project, municipalities will exchange their experiences and best practices in service delivery and work together to find and implement best solutions to local challenges.
The project is implemented by the Development Policy Institute (www.dpi.kg) in cooperation with local civil society organizations.
The USAID awarded a grant of US$ 4.9 million to implement the project until September 2025.
