16 Investment Memorandums Worth Nearly USD 600 Million Signed in Jeti-Oguz District

On March 27, 2026, the Jeti-Oguz District of Issyk-Kul Region hosted the investment forum “Business in the Region – 2026”, aimed at attracting investment, stimulating local economic development, and creating new jobs.

The event was organized by the District State Administration in partnership with the Coordination Council, with technical support from the “Effective Governance for Economic Development” (EGED) Programme implemented by the Development Policy Institute, with financial support from the UK Government.

The forum aimed to strengthen the district’s investment attractiveness and facilitate the launch of concrete projects contributing to sustainable economic growth.

Priority areas included:

  • tourism and infrastructure development
  • support to the agro-industrial sector
  • establishment of processing industries
  • enabling conditions for private investment

Participants were presented with the district’s investment potential, socio-economic development results, and the video “Seven Wonders of Jeti-Oguz District”.

The forum resulted in the signing of 16 tripartite memorandums between the district administration, local self-government bodies, and investors/implementing partners. The total declared investment volume reached nearly USD 600 million.

Projects are distributed across key sectors:

  • 6 projects – tourism
  • 6 projects – fruit storage and processing
  • 2 projects – production (sand and gravel processing)
  • 2 projects – agriculture

According to organizers, around 70% of projects already have identified investors, while the remaining projects are in the fundraising stage.

Ermek Bakhavadinov, Akim of Jeti-Oguz District, noted: “Today’s memorandums lay the foundation for large-scale transformation. We expect significant economic and social results that will directly improve people’s quality of life and support the development of our territories.”

The implementation of these projects is expected to deliver:

  • job creation
  • increased household incomes
  • enhanced regional tourism potential
  • expansion of processing capacities
  • strengthened public-private dialogue and cooperation

Participants also emphasized the important role of the district administration in facilitating project implementation, particularly in supporting permitting processes and ensuring compliance with procedures.

A local products exhibition was also held during the forum, showcasing artisans, food producers, and processing businesses, and providing a platform for promoting local products and building business linkages.
