In 2021, she passed the selection competition and was referred by the municipality for training for a new profession within the framework of the Yntymaktuu Zhashoo conflict reduction project.
"Mediator is a profession I've been dreaming about for the last 4 or 5 years. There were some circumstances and it was not possible to realize my dream then. But now I see that if you dream of something, it comes true.
We all try to resolve conflicts in our life, we enter into conflict with third parties, we try to reconcile people, relatives, etc., but mediation is an entire profession with its own techniques, with its own science. I consider mediation to be the profession of the future," Gulziinat Abdrakhmanova shares.
Achievements during the implementation of the Project “Yntymaktuu Zhashoo”
Gulziinat Abdrakhmanova, a mediator from Uzgen, shares her main success during the implementation of the project along with the fact that she obtained a new profession that inspires her, she also became the owner of the Grand Prix of the National Competition of Mediators, which was assessed by the quality and quantity of resolved conflicts as well as awareness raising and explanatory activities. During the first six months of work, her professional experience turned out to be more than ten resolved conflicts of varying degrees of complexity and nature. Currently, more than 30 mediation agreements have been reached with the help of Gulziinat as a mediator.
"I remember the day when I was urgently invited to the mayor's office, it turned out there was a competition for the selection of candidates for training mediation skills on the Yntymaktuu Zhashoo project. There were about 16 people participating, and three of us were selected, and I was very glad that I passed the selection. We were told that we would be trained, and within a year we would provide mediation services to the local residents free of charge," she says.
Gulziinat Abdyrakhmanova notes that now the residents are positive on the opening of the Mediation Service center. The service is used by those who do not want to go to court or cannot pay the state fee or the services of a lawyer to resolve conflicts. At the same time, she notes that assistance to the Mediation Service is provided under the internal affairs bodies and the district city court.
“We are often in an aggressive environment In the process of conflict. Lawyers look at the case unilaterally, protecting the interests of one party, and in mediation our work is conducted with two parties in the same way. We work on the basic four principles – confidentiality, impartiality of the mediator, voluntariness, cooperation and equality of the parties. People especially like the principle of confidentiality. Sometimes people come with distrust, but when they see that attention is paid equally and the issue is resolved taking into account the both parties, they feel the neutrality of the mediator and start to trust us immediately," she notes.
