In the period from 17 to 19 April 2013 Development Policy Institute organized a press tour for journalists and media representatives from all seven regions, as well as the cities of Osh and Bishkek. The event was held within the framework of the project "Strengthening understanding of economic issues in Kyrgyzstan", funded by the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE).
The press tour was attended by 26 people, among them 22 journalists and media representatives from all seven regions of Osh and Bishkek, Talas oblast state administration representatives. Besides, we should emphasize the assistance of the State Customs Service, State Border Service and the Department of Regional Development Talas regional administration in the organization of event and identifying the key persons at the facilities. For three days, participants visited 14 objects in four districts of the region and met with the governor of Talas Kurmanalieva Koysun.
By the words of participants the press tour gave them much information since they were able to visit all of the objects by themselves and could interview their owners. Nurgazy Jaynakov from Batken RTV said that he shot as much as he could as many of his colleagues had never been in Talas. "That was my first visit to Talas. And I am deeply impressed by what I've seen" - said he.
That press tour was the first in a row of four similar events planned in the frame of the project. In mid-May the DPI plans to hold the second press tour to Osh and Jalal-Abad regions.
