Bishkek hosts the 2025 Annual Conference of the Public Service Improvement Project

On December 9, 2025, the annual conference of the Swiss-funded Public Service Improvement Project (PSI) was held in Bishkek. The event brought together representatives of the Presidential Administration, the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision, the State Agency for Municipal Services, district administrations, and partner organizations.

During the conference, the project team presented the key achievements of 2025. This year, comprehensive municipal solid waste management plans were developed for several regions, contributing to systematic planning and sustainable local services. It was also highlighted that the grant programme reached its largest volume in the project’s history, enabling municipalities to introduce modern waste-management practices.

Participants also learned about Lithuania’s experience in solid waste management. In particular, a representative from the city of Kochkor-Ata, who is also a participant in the exchange tour to Lithuania, shared his municipality's practices. Upon their return, they implemented the underground waste container system and are currently working to increase the number of such containers in the city and conduct public awareness campaigns on waste disposal and sorting practices.

Next, plans from the Nooken and Jeti-Oguz districts were presented, followed by a discussion session. The event concluded with an official certificate award ceremony for grant recipients.

The PSI Project is implemented by HELVETAS and the Development Policy Institute and is financed by the Government of Switzerland.
