Forum “Businesswoman – Prosperous Society” Held in Aitmatov District

On 14 April 2026, the women entrepreneurs’ forum “Businesswoman – Prosperous Society” was held at the Semetey Cinema in Kyzyl-Adyr village, Aitmatov District. The main objective of the event was to expand women’s entrepreneurial opportunities, promote their products, provide new knowledge, encourage peer learning, and support women’s economic participation.

Deputy Head of the Aitmatov District State Administration Mira Seydikerimova stated: “Developing women’s entrepreneurship strengthens not only families, but also the economy of the entire district. We will continue creating new opportunities and providing support for women entrepreneurs. Today’s forum brings together women who have already received, or will receive this year, non-repayable state assistance under the Social Contract programme. This event also provides them with an opportunity to exchange experiences”.

As part of the forum, an exhibition-fair of women entrepreneurs was organized, showcasing sewing products, traditional handicrafts, food items, floriculture products, and other locally produced goods.

The programme included a presentation on the potential of women entrepreneurs in Aitmatov District and a session titled “Social Contract – First Steps.” A video titled “Step into Entrepreneurship” was screened, followed by online and offline success-story sharing sessions featuring local businesswomen. These included practical cases on “Sewing Business for Women: Opportunities and Growth Pathways” and “Adding Value to Fruit Products: Pathways for Women’s Business Development,” presented by an entrepreneur from Kadamjay District.

Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic Avazbek Kerimbaev noted: “Supporting women’s entrepreneurial initiatives in the regions contributes to sustainable national economic growth. Forums like this create new opportunities for partnerships. Today’s platform also provided women entrepreneurs with an excellent opportunity to promote their products and find new customers”.

In addition, masterclasses, consultations, and networking sessions were held. Certificates were awarded to Social Contract beneficiaries by the district department of labour, social protection, and migration.

Ainura Balakunova, expert of the Development Policy Institute, emphasized: “Expanding women’s economic opportunities contributes to the development of local communities. Education and support mechanisms are especially important in this regard. Therefore, we continue providing technical assistance through the Effective Governance for Economic Development (EGED) programme, implemented with the support of the UK Government in partnership with the Development Policy Institute. This forum is also included in the Socio-Economic Development Programme of Aitmatov District developed with EGED support. We consistently support initiatives and actions aimed at local development”.
