The UK Government supports the efforts of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic to accelerate economic development in the regions of the Kyrgyz Republic to reduce territorial gaps and achieve greater results in the local economy.
Having already provided assistance in the development of the State Programme for Comprehensive Socio-Economic Development of the Regions of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2025-2030 (through the Development Policy Institute), the Effective Governance for Economic Development (EGED) Programme will help the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic to hold information meetings with local leaders and authorities in seven regions of Kyrgyzstan from 28 May to 24 June 2025.
The purpose of the meetings is to explain the mechanisms of the new state policy in the field of regional development, making it more transparent and understandable to all development actors, including the state, local self-government, business, and civil society.
In total, about 400 local development actors will take part in the meetings, including members of the Coordination Councils for District Development – local platforms for dialogue between the government, business, and civil society.
