Partners

DPI's permanent partners are:

• the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic’
• the Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament) of the Kyrgyz Republic;
• the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic;
• the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic;
• the State Agency for Civil Service and Local Self-Government under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic;
• the Audit Chamber of the Kyrgyz Republic;
• National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic
• and other government agencies and ALL local self-government bodies.

DPI provides consultations to many government agencies on the basis of open-ended memoranda of cooperation; it has acknowledgments, certificates of appreciation from the government partners and more than 60 letters of appreciation from local self-governments.

DPI is a member of the international networks as the Global Partnership for Social Accountability (GPSA, http://www.thegpsa.org/sa/partner), the International Budget Partnership (IBP, http://internationalbudget.org/groups/development-policy-institute/), joined the Dar es Salaam Declaration on Budget Transparency, and has a certified expert on Global Reporting Initiative standards (Global Reporting Initiative, www.globalreporting.org). 

DPI works closely with civil society organizations in Kyrgyzstan and other Central Asian countries, both implementing joint projects and supporting an enabling environment for civil society development and disseminating best practices and knowledge.

DPI works in a sustainable coalition with the Union of Local Self-Governments of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Local Governance Academy of Central Asia, assisting them in advocacy on behalf of LSG bodies and local communities, as well as creating a sustainable and effective knowledge management system on local development.

Resources for Partners

DPI has been publishing a monthly magazine in Russian and Kyrgyz for over 12 years – "Municipality" (in 2021 the management of the magazine was transferred to the Local Governance Academy of Central Asia). Printed version of the magazine is distributed by subscription to all municipalities of Kyrgyzstan, while electronic version is published on the website http://municipalitet.kg. The magazine has been published monthly since 2011, and is the only periodical in the country devoted entirely to local development and municipal governance. It is also the instrument that DPI uses to disseminate good practices among municipalities in local development.

DPI conducts regular research in the area of citizen interaction with local self-government, measuring citizens' attitudes toward LSG, level of satisfaction with services, and willingness of citizens to participate in LSG. Uniqueness of the research lies in the fact that DPI has maintained a "long" series of data since 2007.

DPI together with the Union of Local Self-Governments of the Kyrgyz Republic established the Local Governance Academy in Central Asia to strengthen the knowledge management system in the field of local development in the region.

In 2022, the Academy manages the DPI-supported Local Self-Government Best Practices Portal (www.myktyaimak.gov.kg), which hosts more than 200 best practices and about 300 sample documents for local self-government bodies.
