Interaction between Mining Companies and Local Communities and Increase Revenues of the Local Budgets (OSCE, 2013)

Coverage: Chui, Issyk-Kul and Naryn Oblasts of Kyrgyzstan

Purpose:

  • Development and testing of the "entry" model of mining company (or any other business related to the development of natural resources or agricultural products processing) into the local community, and establish sustainable partnerships with local governments and citizens.  

Project activities:

The project will be implemented on the basis of 3 pilot municipalities in the Northern regions of the Kyrgyz Republic.  

Sequence of actions:

All the activities designed for a two-year cycle. All the activities of the project consist of six major stages:

  1. Information campaign
  2. Educational events of concerned parties
  3. PRA sessions
  4. Regulatory training interaction with state bodies and local self-government
  5. Public hearings
  6. Realization of joint project
  7. Information campaign by the project results.

Phases 1-4 will be realized during the first year, phases 5-7 - during the second year of the project implementation.
